This work was created during a residency within the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh 2024-2025. I observed and sketched nearly 20 neurosurgical procedures before creating a series of paintings and monotypes. As the first artist in residence, I focused on revealing the humanity, compassion, and teamwork within this highly clinical environment, drawing on perspectives as an observer, artist, and patient to demystify the surgical experience.
